April is Stress Awareness Month. With stress leading to more serious mental health issues as well as numerous physical health issues such as heart disease, immune and digestive system challenges, mental health and physical health can not be separated. That's why we include the Perceived Stress Survey as part of the self-service health check. Read more on our stress data..
Each month, we focus on a particular area of health. In April, aligned with Stress Awareness month, we focus on stress and mental health.
With stress leading to more serious mental health issues as well as numerous physical health issues such as heart disease, immune and digestive system challenges, mental health and physical health can not be separated.
That's why we include the Perceived Stress Survey as part of the self-service health check. From the thousands of SiSU health checks conducted to date, we know that:-
🔴 Over 20% of 16 to 24 yr olds who completed the Perceived Stress survey (PSS4) had a high stress score.
🔴 Those living in the more deprived areas (IMD 1 to 4) recorded higher levels of perceived stress.
🔴 Women reported a higher level of stress then men.
🔴 Highest Perceived Stress is reported by people who identify as mixed ethnicity.
